State Specific Question About: WISCONSIN (WI)
Just read that the state of WI is requiring 1-2 family dwellings both standard smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms - regardless of the buildings age. Has anyone heard if this would also apply to 4 families? We need to install a hard wired smoke alarm in one of our units and if necessary, we could include a co alarm - but would this be necessary. Appreciate any feedback.

err on the side of caution and go with the CO as well - especially if there is any kind of gas (heat, cooking, water) in the unit. i would never want to look back after that 1 in a million mishap and think it might have been averted if .... --76.17.xx.xxx |

I bought 500 c02 detectors from menards when they were 2 for 24 dolla...
I put them on all levels of the cribs (basement, main, upstairs)...
In apartments we put them in the hall way between the bedrooms and in the common hallways and basements (by law)...
Smokes with hush buttons on the main level where the cooking takes place and regular on all levels at least 6ft from bedroom doors...

Yes smoke detectors are required in all units and carbon monoxide detectors in all houses and apts with anything any fuel appliances, heat, etc. If you have a gas heating system, water heater, dryer, etc, you should have c/o detectors in all units and multiples if needed.
If I were you, I would google carbon monoxide law in Wisconsin and you can get more info that way. They are supposed to be placed within a certain number of feet from bedrooms, etc but do not remember specifics off hand.
I would rather error on the side of safety and install too many, rather than not enough. --207.190.xxx.xx |
