State Specific Question About: TENNESSEE (TN)
How do you verify someone's income that comes exclusively from a trust fund? Thank you for your help : ) Steph --205.188.xxx.xxx |

Get statements from the Trustee.
If the trustee is some relative, Caveat emptor.

This is almost impossible, make them prepay full-term, it works fine for students and some who have returned to this area have called me for a place to live with a fiance/kids and 6months in advance is really nice, you must have well kept/prepared places to do this. --76.241.xxx.xx |

Trust usually issues checks for record keeping, they don't usually deal in cash. Have her produce check copies and bank statements. --108.13.x.xx |

It depends on who pays the funds. Most (legit) trusts are managed and paid by a trust servicer like First American Trust or a bank.
You want to see bank statements showing consistent deposits, also tax returns (which can be faked).
When I was younger I had a trust from my grandmother which paid me about $200 a month interest until I was 25, when I received control of the money and blew it in fairly short order. Sigh... --76.170.xxx.xxx |

I knew a guy in a wheelchair who got millions. Such a person has thick folders of paperwork and relating tax returns and bank statements. --101.108.xxx.xxx |

I ask to see proof, tax documents or the "trust fund" itself. Several applicants use the phrase "I receive my income from a Trust", they don't know the difference between a joint bank account from a parent or a benificary of a trust (K-1 tax form). --173.55.xxx.xxx |
