State Specific Question About: COLORADO (CO)

I moved into a new apartment that was infected with roaches. What would I need to do in order to break my lease, due to the living conditions? --75.70.xxx.xxx

You have left a lot of details out.

How long have you lived there?

What does your lease say on pest control?

Have you told your landlord that there is a problem?

How long did it take for the landlord to respond?

Go to your local Big Box store and get some Combat roach paste.

Put it out under the sinks, drains, and frig.

Wait about 10 days and reapply. Don't spray.

.

Did you tell your Landlord?

Something is missing in your story.

How long did you wait to tell them?

If you are month to month, give notice and move.

This is a Landlord site, so get ready to get ready for some pointed comments...

The roach gel will rid your apartment of roaches at a cost of $10. That is a lot cheaper than having to move. --64.12.xxx.xx

You can't break your lease for roaches, at least not until after the landlord has several chances to reduce the infestation. --98.111.xxx.xxx

Just a few or a whole lot? If just a few you could have brought them in with you as hitch hikers. They are notorious for getting into boxes you get from stores. If you laid anything down on the ground while you were moving they could have hopped a ride. We also see applicants who bring them in with them. But I suspect yours are home grown.

Before anyone moves in I treat the unit with the Combat gel as directed to get the unwanted guests. Never had a problem.

You can also go to an exterminator for a stronger version called Max Force. For under $10 it's a lot faster than waiting. But any of us would be on it right away.

We want find the source so it does not happen again.

Don't spray. It blocks the action of the gel. Spraying is just full employment for exterminators. You kill only what you see. Wit the gel, the darlings get back home, and their friends being cannibals eat the dearly departed and the the gel they ate until there is nobody to get anymore gel. They love the stuff. --151.213.x.xx

If you chose to stay there,

1st choice- bomb your place once every five or six weeks for three or four months.

2nd choice- inform your ll

3rd choice- find a tenant chat and ask for advice. --75.166.xxx.xx

The law does not consider the place inhabitable because of roaches, hire an exterminator and dont think about breaking your lease over something that you can resolve your self. I hope you reported this to the Landlord right away --71.203.xxx.xxx

how many units in the bldg?if its 3 or fewer u can beat the problem in my experience.treat all units with maxforce from cooperseeds.com or combat gewl from a big box store.they are about the same thing.often its a piggy tenant who leaves garbage out .when pig goes the problem goes in mty experience.keep food and water from them.some guys like to use shop vac first.dont spray while using gel.u may have to do it twice.little white things are baby roaches.after 2 weeks the problem greatly abates.we hope. --208.58.x.xx
