Is it legal for a landlord to break into a renters home when he or she is not there and have not been told when the landlord would be coming? --76.123.xxx.xxx

LL should have a key and can go in anytime. It is not called breaking in.

If tenant has changed the locks, LL has the right to do what they need to do to gain entry. It is the LL's property and they need to be able to get in and tenant has no right to change the locks.

Perhaps there is more to the story.

The others are correct; you will be better received at a tenant site. However, you need to post the full story there to get an accurate response. --66.32.xxx.xxx
