State Specific Question About: ALABAMA (AL)

Do anybody know of any good products out on the market today that will remove a red soda/Kool-Aid stain from a Tan carpet? --24.249.xxx.xxx

I found out long ago that there is pretty much nothing that will take out that red stain. I actually bought burgundy carpets for two bedrooms after finding beige carpets stained with lipstick and nailpolish. You could try calling a carpet cleaning place since it's been a long time since I've had that problem. I put darker carpet in all the apts. now and I also use a tight berber weave that is one step up from commercial because it is so cleanable. Nothing gets down between the nubbly weave. Is it fairly new carpet? Do you have some extra? Because a very good carpet guy can cut out the stain and patch a new piece in. --76.99.xxx.xx

Bleach will take it out, but then you will have another problem. --71.193.xxx.xxx

I was told that boiling hot ammonia would work. Ammonia being a base and red stain being acid, add heat and kaboom. I never tried it because once I was told, the opportunity never came up.

I used to use diluted bleach in a spray bottle and shampoo it out, but the application time is sort of critical --76.29.xxx.xxx

google suggests placing a damp towel dipped in a mild solution of dawn and water, on the stain. Then placing an iron set on low, on the towel. supposedly the stain wicks up into the towel.

Be Careful :) --24.11.x.xxx

Kool aid stain remover

Add five or six drops of Blue Dawn Dishwashing liquid to two cups of

warm water. Dampen a white Terry cloth towel with this solution and

lay it over the stain. Then place a clothes iron on top of it, set on

"low".

Let this sit for fifteen minutes, and don't press down. The red stain

will start to wick up into the cloth. You should see red on the

cloth. Fold it to use a clean part or apply a new cloth, and repeat

the process.

It takes patience to get red stains out of carpet, but even year-old

Kool Aid stains have been removed using this method. Repeat the

process again and again until there is no more transfer of the red

stain to the cloth. Rinse the spot with water, blot it up, and dry it

quickly. Quick drying prevents any stain deeper down from wicking up

to the surface.

You can also try 1 part amonia to 2 parts water with same procedure.

Use namebrand Oxyclean!! I have gotten red and purple kool-aid out with Oxyclean. Make solution slightly stronger than they say, disolve well in hot water(not boiling). Let sit overnight. Rub with a clean Turkish towel. If not all out--apply again, hot water, let stand even longer. Eventually it will all come up. --140.140.xx.x
