Was wondering if it's possible to help tenants improve their credit score by providing info about their payment history to Equifax, Experion, etc. - IF they pay on time, that is...

Is that something you practice?! --32.97.xxx.xxx

Reporting rentals to credit bureau is really..well I don't see the point.

First off you MUST then report to them every month. Being "late" for a credit score does not even count until you are at least 30 days late and NO landlord should keep a tenant who is 30 days late - or even 15 days late for that matter.

Just give the tenant a great reference when they move for their next rental. Let them build their credit on their own using services and credit that is readily available and reported on a regular basis to the credit bureaus. --207.200.xxx.x

It's good to try - but if they don't follow through, then you are wasting your time. It's an all out fight - just like when it comes to getting into shape for fatties.

The first step: write down every expense for a month. Then reconsider. Eating out, shopping to cure the blues, having $$$ phone bills => get a flat rate plan! And they need to start repaying debt, one entry after another. They control their own spending: what else can they control?! --203.144.xxx.xxx

Keep in mind that it will cost you $ to report to the bureau. Also, only pmts that are over 30 days late reflect on the bureau, and by then--you'd be evicting. So..it costs you a bit of $, and there is really no benenfit to you.

Perhaps you could get the info and then if THEY are willing to pay the fees + an admin fee to you for your time, you can accomodate them.
