Is Bier premium plus a good paint for rentals, or would a different brand work better such as Sherwin Williams Valspar? Both would be egg shell --172.96.xxx.xxx |

Takes 2 coats. I use Marquee. Tinted colors usually nail it in one coat - except white which still usually needs a 2nd coat. --76.117.xxx.xxx |

We use Sherwin W from the Sherwin W store. Cashmere brand. Recently purchased from Home Depot Behr paint for interior bathroom door and trim and it flowed out well and looks amazing. It was exterior paint. --172.59.xxx.xxx |

I prefer Glidden Premium. It's as good as the others and less expensive. --72.218.xx.xxx |

FWIW:
I do not recommend eggshell, unless it's on the ceiling where it won't be touched (less durable-not much different from flat)
I prefer satin on walls, except damp places, and semi-gloss on trim, doors, closets & damp places (bath, laundry, kitchen) --72.218.xx.xxx |

DJ,
Try the Behr Ultra Scuff Defense. Not quite as good as my preferred Scuff X. But it's a much better buy and very close to scuff X.
Compared to your Glidden premium semi-gloss. It will cover better and be more scrubbable.
The Behr contractors I300 is a great buy. If just looking at price. But will need 2 coats. Much better price. And I would say it is about 90% as good as contractor grades at SW or Ben Moore. At least use the scuff defense on doors and trim.
Anyway, just my opinion. Up until recently, I have always used Ben More and some SW

Where I used to live in Calif the city passed a law that every rental had to be repainted after each tenant, no matter the condition.
This led to a local paint company making their own paint for this. It was called "landlords paint" and came in only 2 colors, pretty white and kinda beige. As I recall, it was basically water with some coloring in it. Thin as water and priced at $1.50 a gallon. It did not cover problems and I had to buy Kilz at the store and cover bad spots with that first. Kilz was, I think, maybe $7.00/gal at the time.
I used to spray paint 2 bedroom apts for college kids for $85 per apartment, doing a minimum or 2 apts per day. This in a time when wages were only $3.00 per hour, early 1970's. --24.180.xx.xxx |

I haven’t bought it in a long while. Since there are so many variables I can’t say it it’s better or worse with any real proof.
My biggest problem was that paint didn’t match from bucket to bucket. That was a pain when I had just a few touch ups. I switched to KM then BM. --162.204.xxx.xxx |

A little side hint:
Whatever we use, we save a quart in a QT size plastic paint jar from Menards, full, no air, a dab on the lid.
We mark the large lid with the house number and rooms, then store it under the kitchen sink.
The res can use it for touch ups from the very bucket used on the walls. Same for semi-gloss white trim. We get back a better home.
OR my guys can use it at turnover.

Another vote for Behr Ultra Scuff Defense. My very knowledgeable paint lady at Home Depot talked me into FLAT for walls. I have NEVER ever even considered flat. Painted beautifully, I don’t how it is holding up, as the tenant just got the place in March, and I’ve been, well, Busy. This house had a lotof complicated wall texture that I knocked down. whoever did the texture many years ago was learning, and the first wall they started on, or the worst messed up was the main living room wall. Very eneven, messy. Oh, and they started with the really hard mud. I wore out pocket planers left and right on that one wall. The flat paint really minimized the uneven remaining texture :-/ --172.59.xx.xxx |
