Sean Hannity accused of repeatedly evicting tenants who paid no rent

The great things about liberals is that even though most have never run a business, they all know exactly how businesses should be run. It's as if all those courses they took at Amherst or Yale on women's studies, art history, and neo-colonialism gave them an intuitive sense for market forces, and exactly how much businesses should pay employees, exactly how much in taxes businesses should pay, and how to run every aspect of their companies.

It's hardly surprising, then, to find an exposé in the Washington Post focusing on Fox News commentator Sean Hannity. Hannity spent millions of dollars to buy ownership in over a thousand rental properties, and then, once he acquired ownership, he started evicting tenants left and right – all for the "crime" of not paying rent! How bizarre is that? When Sean Hannity invested millions of dollars in rental properties, he actually expected the tenants to pay rent to him!

Liberals, of course, know that this is immoral and scandalous – the economic equivalent of keeping a "brown slave" like Eric Schneiderman or sexting while babysitting like Anthony Weiner.

Interesting. Nice to hear Hannity is a Landlord.

Wonder if these same people think its wrong to have to pay for food at the grocery store or gas at the gas station? --24.233.xxx.xx

In my opinion, one of the biggest problem in this country is this hard-line "divide" between people that like to group everyone into one neat little box and label them all that way.

Sorry, but there are LOTS of "liberals" that run successful and profitable businesses. There are lots and lots of liberals who earned various science and/or business degrees.

This idea that "most liberals" have no idea about business and majored in art history is just another myth that continues to drive this country APART instead of trying to bring it together.

Also, when I Google this, all I find is articles from years ago. Even at the Washington Post that you mentioned, this is from like early 2018. Is there some reason you're suddenly bringing it up? Is there an update or something?

Note that that exact title isn't from the Washington Post at all. It's from some right-wing site. The actual Washington Post title is "At Sean Hannity properties in working-class areas, an aggressive approach to rent collection".

In any case, I agree that the Washington Post is pretty darn biased. That's pretty much common knowledge. But I'll point out that the main point of the article is that this company is file for evictions at about twice the average rate for the state. So, they are indeed being pretty "aggressive" (which again, is the title of the article) compared to the average LL company in that state.

They didn't say it was wrong even. They primarily said that it was much more aggressive than average. And then gave some sob stories to go with it. (Which, again, I don't agree with -- and they are clearly biased.)

In the end, this is still a 2+ year old thing that, as far as I can tell, hasn't been brought up recently otherwise.

I posted it for laffs. Unfortunately, many pols want to make sure LLs do not evict deadbeats, druggies, crazies etc for any reason now during their "moratorium" on evictions. --174.65.xx.xxx

It is irresponsible to bring this up now, years after the fact, given that eviction moratoriums are in place in numerous jurisdictions.

I hope that it is not true. Otherwise, Hannity needs to replace his management team. "Sean Hannity accused of repeatedly evicting tenants who paid no rent." Why doesn't his team screen out every tenant who they have previously evicted? Why re-rent to the same (now already proved to be a) bad tenant, so that you can "repeatedly" evict that tenant. Fool me once, …

I have NEVER repeatedly evicted a tenant, let alone multiple tenants!

Now that I think about it, I have repeatedly evicted one tenant. After the court hearing, the Tenant came up with all the money, including court costs, so I did not enforce the writ of possession and allowed the tenancy to continue. But about 3 months later, I had to evict "again."

The guy who was orchestrating the take down of the Andrew Jackson statue was a liberal IT guy who went to an expensive college. So finally you are right about something John. That has become a very lucrative business if we can just find out who is paying those guys. --71.104.xx.xxx

Who's paying those guys? Corporate America that's who.

Hannity brought a huge block of properties here in Atlanta from an investor who was tag teaming every county foreclosure auction. Was very impressive to watch. I only bid in one county every first Tuesday but he had 10 counties covered with printouts and staff handing out money like candy at the foreclsoure sales. (rumor had 1500 SFH's were purchased)

The untold story is the man who actually organized this-- not so much Hannity and his bunch they brought the properties after the fact--- fact is the group went to jail after Hannity purchased 987 properties-- supposedly legit transactions. That's how Hannity got involved with the crooked lawyer Michael Cohen. Very interesting reading if you dig some. Cohen was the go between on this large purchase.
