Eviction is Violence (by DJ [VA]) Jul 2, 2020 12:49 PM
Message:

I just saw it on my local news.

A group of people protesting against evictions outside a courthouse.

The moratorium here just ended.

The news camera focused on some signs that said things like

"Eviction is Violence" What? How is a court process violent?

and "Help black people, not Landlords" Really? Like there aren't any black landlords.

How is eviction a racist thing, anyway? It's a matter of finances and meeting obligations.

Oh, and by the way: someone broke a courthouse window.

The irony.

Who is helping the small business person? Surely not the political people except those in court that enforce the rental agreement, when the news catches me I tell them a little about rescuing people who are climbing the steps to being homeowners, similar to rescuing at the animal shelter and there are times when they need to be adopted to friends, family or in general re-homed with their possessions. Providing safe housing is our primary objective, when animals begin breaking handrails, fences and doors they receive a failing grade. --76.188.xxx.xxx

Vee, oh, I’m going to chuckle at the thought of re-homing tenants to their family and friends! Perfect description.

I think Ignorance leads to Violence. That person/ group with the sign, Eviction is Violence is teaching just plain ignorance.........(Can one teach ignorance??.... Or is that such a specialized skill that some who have it in Such abundance just know they must share their gifts?) --70.92.xxx.xxx

From the article: "Help black people, not Landlords"

These people have never met the founder and highly successful Mr. LL himself!

They just use racism as an excuse for everything these days, like there riots and looting and lawlessness and pure irresponsibility. It really makes me angry and sick. Certain groups of the government feed off of it and even fuel the fire. --73.120.xx.xxx

If tenants are receiving funds for housing and food that money should be used for housing and food. While on the island of socialist paradise they do not pay rent but have to wait 30 to 35 years to get a place to live unless you are a member of the party. There is a severe housing shortage then one wonders why while the party members are said to live like kings. People go to the grocery store where they have to pay for food and pay for gasoline if they go to the gas station where employers have to pay wages. Some of tenancy advocate chairs actually own their houses then let some people move in for free then the tenancy advocates can supply free utilities. If anyone goes to a town or city rental housing providers buy goods and services from that community. People fail to look at the economy as a whole. --147.194.xxx.xx

Hmm so it looks like the "CHOP" eviction did not end too well, violence, damages, squatters. The area is now recovered, and being refurbished...reminds me of my own recent eviction earlier this year...

DJ,,

Thanks for this.

Based on the current chaos, I fear landlords will irrationally be perceived as the enemy, even more than now. Politicians are feeding this with eviction moratoriums, eliminating late fees, and talk of free rent.

This makes some renters foam at the mouth with the greed of free rent.

I fear people will lash out same as the police have experienced.

For years I have tried to warn LLs to implement safety measures.

Now more than ever.

Turn your local news off and do something productive that helps you grow. We are having good months in 2020. I even had a now payer since April and got him to leave with nice talk due to no evictions - told him it will ruin his credit and ability to get another apartment if he stayed. He left and we rented the unit the next day at higher rent. Full occupancy and paying tenants. What you focus on grows... --190.105.xxx.xxx
