The old reliable snap traps always work well for me. 2or 3 for a dollar. Peanut butter. Catch, dispose and reset. If you have lotsa mice, use several. --172.222.xx.x

When given the choice i will use poison and just hold my nose thru the bad days. They don't seem to be able to read and just ignored my signs "no mice allowed" so what's a girl to do. Smelly Cat? --99.203.xx.xx

At my house, I'll use snap traps baited with peanut butter.

At the rentals, I've had good results with sonic repellants, although not all are created the same. Reviews are important. --107.77.xxx.xxx

Had the same problem in my home. They even ruined my stove by pulling out the insulation. I just keep using the glue traps and have a bucket of water outside to put them to sleep. I then take a shovel and get the sticky trap out so no wildlife get stuck on it. I have probably also used that many. Now I have not seen a mouse for a week and I have three glue traps out behind doors and other things so my dogs don't step on them. Just keep going and finally there will be no sightings but keep traps there anyway since you don't know where they are getting in. Snap traps can provide you with a view of an exploded mouse so put that in a paper bag first if you decide to do that. DO NOT USE poison. Dead mouse smell in the wall can take months to go away. I had one leap under a cabinet with sticky trap attached and I had to tape plastic over the cabinet the smell was so bad for weeks and weeks. There are two basic odors. One is musty at the highest level. Mus us the Latin word for mouse just by way of reference. The other is like the worst rotted cooked broccoli ever. It will permeate every room in the house. Just keep putting out those sticky traps. --173.61.xxx.xx

Snap traps with peanut butter, sometimes half a kernel of cat food stuck into that. Lots of them, facing all directions, along the baseboards. If you a particular place you find mouse droppings, then set a lot there. --108.4.xxx.xx

I haven't tried any of these, but I was thinking of trying some of the rat trap ideas from youtube for a shed at our church. Take a look at these for ideas:

- youtube.com/watch?v=MHGWBHgJoBo

- youtube.com/watch?v=gve7VbsbgFU

I'm sure you can find a good use of an old bucket and create one of your own. --99.165.xx.xxx

Another vote for snap traps. Use fresh peanut butter. Use gloves, so you don't leave any scent on the trap.

If you get lucky, throw the mouse and the trap in the trash, and use new traps for other mice. --99.59.x.xxx

If they won't use bait (DCON) they don't want to get rid of the mice. Put DCON in the basement where the pets can't reach it. --75.67.xx.xxx

Message:

The only thing that will get rid of them all is poison.

The snap traps and the glue traps can only get the ones that come out into the open. If you have one out in the open, there are 10 more hiding and breeding inside the walls. --98.146.xxx.xxx

mice (by Vee [OH]) Aug 23, 2019 10:23 AM
Message:

Stop feeding them and they scatter like neighbor kids, stick traps are good but you toss them with the catch, if you can handle some bloody fur use the snap attack traps. Go to the house after dark and shine light from inside and fix the holes with soup cans or leftover furnace tin - spray foam lasts about a year, when they feel the heat they want inside.. --76.188.xxx.xx

Again, poison will kill them in the walls and create a smell you can't be in the house with so only do this if you can afford to put your tenant up in a motel. Rodents CARRY FOOD AROUND AND COULD BRING IT TO WHERE PETS ARE. THEY STORE FOOD AND DROP IT ALONG THE WAY. So if you use poison bait they might store it in the tenants KITCHEN and you don't want that.

OK, my Moultrie game trail camera showed a small rat or a large mouse. I am off to the hardware store to get some rat size glue traps. College kid helper is coming today and will help me move some stuff to get to the window where I think it came in. --173.61.xxx.xx

Vee: NO! Fix the holes in the DAY. A rat exterminator told me that rats leave the nest in the day to search for food and return at night. Seal it while they're gathering food. If you seal them in, they'll chew all sorts of things. --108.69.xxx.xxx

mice (by Nicole [PA]) Aug 24, 2019 11:39 AM

the correct poison does NOT leave a rotting smelly carcass. It dehydrates them and there is no smell.

I don't have any pets but my kids all bring critters with them so at my home I put the DCon or Toms in an open shoe box since rodents don't have any table manners and scatter the poison. --72.70.xxx.xxx

Our tenants have cats and have never complained about mice! When we had a problem at home, a pest control company came and helped us find the hole where they were getting in so we could get it sealed up (a rotten doorframe near the basement door); then they set traps in the best places. We haven't had any more issues. --47.24.xxx.xxx

4 items

2 saucers

plaster or plaster of paris

water

Put plaster in one saucer and water in the other

Mouse eats plaster and then drinks water

Plaster then starts to solidify in stomach

Mouse goes back to nest in distress and all mice in area vacate due to stress signals from mouse that is dieing.

Problem solved.
