I love a deal!

Costco has combination smoke/CO detectors on sale $54 for a 2 pack = $27 each.

We are making sure every home has a CO detector even tho it's not law in Indiana.

I promote it as a safety feature along with deadbolts, etc.

Helps MY homes stand out from the crowd.

BRAD

That’s a good deal. I’m curious how many people actually care about the style of alarm though. Most times at move out the alarms are either beeping, battery missing or alarm missing altogether. The missing alarm always stumps me a bit. --24.152.xxx.xx

I used wiremold to get the battery backup A/C powered detectors every room possible, aim for a closet to go up or down a level, inspectors like these loud things to wake the house next door as well as where the fire is at. --184.59.xxx.xx

I put CO detectors in as well. Just not in the electric only houses.

Love when a tenant asks about the CO2 detector. I try to explain that it would go off every time they talked, but they usually don't get it. --107.147.xx.xx

HUD in my area is changing the standard. I have been putting carbon detectors in all my homes with gas even though HUD didn't require it. Soon they are going to be requiring the carbon detectors to be outside the bedrooms instead of where I have them in the basement near the furnace according to the instructions in the box. Oh well. I'm at moving them upstairs as soon required. --172.59.xxx.xxx

ZERO gets COTD Comment Of The Day - CO2 when speaking!

These combo detectors cover two birds with one stone.

We still put them in total elec homes as CYA.

I always think about that family that died in their sleep during a power outage when the LL moved the generator into the house for the night. Or if they use kerosene heaters, etc.

The trouble with the combination units is that smoke is lighter than air - it rises to the ceiling.

CO is heavier than air - it sinks toward the floor. --68.229.xxx.xxx

DJ-CO2 is heavier than air. CO mixes completely in air- it is fine to have a CO detector on the ceiling.

NE- the ones Costo have do not have a removable battery. If it is missing, we can charge $250 per our contract and Oregon landlord tenant law.

Smoke and CO alarms should be within 15 feet of bedroom doors so it will wake a sleeping person.

Caution: They do have a shelf life so don't buy too many --76.138.xxx.xxx
