The first Robins of spring have arrived in northern lower Michigan. They have migrated from Texas and the south - 50 feet at a time (have you ever seen a robin flying higher than about 30 feet or further than about 50 feet?) It's not like there are flocks of them like the redwing blackbirds or the passing V-formations like the geese.
It is 70 degrees yesterday and today.
Snow expected by Friday.
Spring is knocking on the door! Yea!

I never seen a flock of Robins migrate. Around here there are lots of Robins that stay right through the winter.

Robins have been eating the tiny overwintered crabapples for about two weeks. Purple finches too. My granddaughter spotted a ‘butterfly’ yesterday. I got a brief glimpse-likely a cabbage moth.
Here’s hoping we don’t get a late spring snowfall. --172.59.xx.xxx |

I took a chance and hooked the sump pump hoses back up a month ago. So far, so good. --172.59.xx.xxx |

If you ever get to catch their song before the go to bed in the evening, it’s quite nice. --24.152.xxx.xx |

Almost more prevalent than Robins are land seals. I saw my first woodchuck the other day. Also sap stopped flowing --172.59.xxx.xx |

It is common around here to see robins three times before it becomes spring. Is the same true there? --24.101.xxx.xxx |

SE Pennsylvania has year-round robins. They tend to flock together during the winter months, move from yard to yard eating seeds like those from Tulip Poplars. --96.245.xx.xxx |
