Hello board of directors and construction engineers extraordinars! I will be installing my first shower of this kind and would very much like your input. On what to purchase, where to purchase and pitfalls and tips to avoid said pitfalls please.

What I am doing is ripping completely out a shower that has the shower pan the Fiberglas two walls as it is a corner shower. The shower door/ and one wall of glass. The old 1965 version.

Putting in something like this that is available at Home Depot.

Where you tile 2 walls then I believe you install a shower pan that does not come with this order. Then install the the shower 1 wall and the 4th wall with the door in it.

DreamLine Prism 34.125 in. x 34.125 in. x 72 in. Semi-Frameless Neo-Angle Pivot Shower Enclosure in Brushed Nickel-SHEN-2134340-04 - The Home Depot

The reviews are fairly good with a few not so swell reviews.

What are your suggestions on this project? What to buy where to buy it. Tips for installing, things to look out for.

I already have the tile and grout the good spacers the thin set. The trim edge. It will be 18”x18” brown tiles.

Thank you in advance for your sage wisdom.

Via La Mr Landlord board of directors!

Dreamline is a really nice shower door product. The hardware is solid and heavy and the glass Is 1/4” (maybe thicker - check the specs). All of their glass now is spot resistant.

I suspect that the complaints relate to install issues mostly or they did not carefully make sure the doors were sized correctly for the pan. Their customer service department for install issues is really good.

The kitchen designer at the local HD may have more information depending on if they have had an opportunity to talk with a rep from Dreamline. I think the rep also talks to the pro desk. --70.105.xxx.xxx

Take a look at the Schluter ditra membrane products used for shower installs. There are videos on You Tube about the Schluter products. Above the shower should last a long time. --147.194.xxx.xx

Sometimes I'll buy a fiberglass shower pan to what ever size and shape I'll need. Then I will install on the walls a vapor barrier, tile board (Durarock) and then install tile on the two rear walls of the corner shower. This hold up well with tenants, better than plastic walls. --47.156.xx.xx

A suggestion on the bathroom in general ( from someone who does all their own turnovers)- if the bathroom isn’t all that big it might be worth your while to tile all the walls. You will have all the stuff there to do the shower walls anyway. It adds wow factor, makes it look bigger and you won’t ever have to paint it again. --71.10.xxx.xxx
