I know how to get removed from the list of normal flipper phone lists, but now I'm getting repeated recorded messages from one individual who says they want to buy my house. I have her number blocked but unfortunately they can still leave voicemails on my Android.

Every time I call this person it goes straight to VM. I left a VM to remove me from the list but calls kept coming. You can't reach a live person there.

Is this a scam? I don't get it. I can't see why someone would think this tactic would attract sellers. --72.188.xxx.xxx

I hate all of these robo calls and voicemails. I wish this problem would go away, however, I think it is here to stay.

In your case right now you could probably sue this person because it does not sound like a robo call but an individual and you have let them know(although you would probably have to have proof)not to call you. You might try leaving them a message that you are interested and then let them call you back or meet you and then hand them a cc letter to not call you anymore and if they do you will sue them.

I also don't understand why they think this tactic or mailing flyers is attractive. I guess it does work or they wouldn't keep doing it but it really makes me mad. I am tired of all of there junk mail.

How do you stop all of the others? I would love to learn that one. --73.120.xx.xxx

Good idea if this continues I may do that...although this person has an area code from a different part of Florida so I don't even know if I could meet with them. I'm hoping the calls will just stop on their own. --72.188.xxx.xxx

One time, on a flight from NY, I got into an interesting conversation with the passenger next to me. The subject of annoying credit card applications came up, you know those pre-approved things. I told him: the worst is Capital One! at least 2-3 a week!!!

He smiled and said: I am the one who is sending you these pre-approved letters from Capital one!

I said, no way, show me!

He pulled his business card that confirmed that. VP at the Capital One credit office.

So I asked: Why do you have to send so many?

His answer, which explains the robo call industry thinking: Because it works. --99.59.x.xxx

One time I had a persistent caller that wouldn't go away. They were selling cleaning services for business. After explaining that I run a home office and had no interest in office cleaning services, I finally gave in. I acted super interested and asked them to come and survey the place for a price.

When they showed up to my door, they were puzzled that they got a home address. I played dumb and asked why a home would want an office cleaning service? After wasting his time, I was quietly removed from their list.

Now I have a warranty company that keeps calling me to extend a warranty on a car I don't own anymore. I wasted their time, now I'm blocked from the salesman level, but still get calls from screener.

Someday, when I'm rich, I'll buy a phone bank of 100 robocallers and bombard the robocaller's phone bank with calls. Maybe I'll make a service out of it, like being a sales caller hitman tying up their phone lines for 1 hr unless I'm removed from the list. --108.69.xxx.xxx

Better than a call from an actual guy saying that he is standing in front of my building and wants to buy it and how much do I want. I don't know how he got my cell number. I told him a high ball 250 K and he said it was too rich for his blood and hung up. I live two blocks down so I was wondering if he knew where I live also. It's really not for sale since there is a buried oil tank. It's properly closed and I have a certificate but I think removing it would damage the back cellar wall. When people get loans I think the bank wants those removed and if there was any leakage the state sues every previous owner for damage. --73.248.xxx.xxx

I use Google Voice. They have an option to play a specific message for specific contacts.

I created a contact named Telemarketers. When I get a call from one, I add that number to the contact.

When "that contact" (anyone calling from one of those numbers) calls me, my phone routes them directly to VM. GV recognizes the number and the caller hears my telemarketer message:

"If you're hearing his message, you've already called me in the past and I do not want to take your call. Do not leave a message because it will not be returned or even listened to." --198.23.xxx.xxx

Someone has loaded 'landlord' names into a database because when I call them they answer the phone using my name. I was getting constant calls from them asking if i wanted to sell. I spent an afternoon calling them many many many times repeatedly telling them to stop calling me. I am sure they thought i was crazy. But i wanted them to experience the non stop interruptions of the phone calls. After that afternoon of say 50 non stop calls by me to them they never called me again. --108.51.xxx.xxx

J [FL] I’m not sure what you have for a cell phone plan but I have Verizon and I can log in to my account and block numbers with Verizon so they can’t get threw at all, the caller just gets a message saying their call cannot be placed at this time, unlike blocking just on the phone where they can still leave a voicemail. With Verizon I can block a max of 5 numbers for free, more than that there’s a fee, and the block lasts 90 days then you have to block it again. Google “how to block numbers through ________”AT&T, Verizon, or whatever you have. --71.248.xxx.xxx
