Binge watching this show while I recover from the Indiana sinus crud that’s been going around.

CAN’T PAY WE’LL TALE IT AWAY, on Netflix, Season 4 recently posted.

Cameras follow High Court Enforcement officers as they do lock out evictions. Lots of body cam footage. Real life, not fake reality show junk.

Even tho it’s in a different country people are still the same.

I HIGHLY recommend LLs watch this to learn, especially newbies.

-people lie, right there on camera.

-they make excuses

-they feel they should not have to pay

-if the LL is visible the emotions escalate

-arguing things like “I have to pay the mortgage” are totally useless.

-the officers are pros at working with upset people, diffusing tensions. Reminds me why I do not knock on doors to collect rents.

-notice that people who are behind in rent almost always have trashed the homes, leaving the LL huge cleaning and repoar bills.

-remters who owe L6-10,000 are vehement they don’t owe anything

-their process takes several months and renters still deny knowing anything about being evicted, even tho they owe tons.

I would love to hear the reactions of others.

Have a process in place to get these characters out ASAP.

And don't waste any time doing it.

I've been watching that show too as we L as the other one on the same channel. Your observations are right on.

I think your 2 minute visit is a good idea because, as you note, most of the bad ones also trash the houses and a visit may tell you what your house will look like shortly. Plus it's a good indication of their character.

I completely agree with the ZT policy. Every time I've been lenient or listened to a story I've lost money. --23.121.xx.xxx

I've seen a few episodes - very interesting. It seems they have a "high" court that costs the landlord a bit more $, but gets the job done faster than "regular" eviction court.

Excuses are pretty much the same everywhere - just with a more interesting accent. ; ) --68.10.xxx.x

Hope you feel better soon Brad. Nyquil and benedryl work wonders together.

Out here we practice the desert with a shovel eviction technique. ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist! LOL --47.216.xx.xxx

Brad, Brett is of the opinion that the process servers/eviction folks are all from a private company, not government officials. Do you think so too?

Interesting show-maddening though! --76.189.xxx.xxx

Susan,

Did some research. Brett is right.

The men on the show are employees of DCBL Debt Collection Baliffs Limited, hired by the property owner for a fee to serve and enforce the High Court writ.

Normal eviction can take 8-12 weeks. The residents we see on the show have already been told to leave, some have overstayed or refused to leave.

If the LL files with the High Court then hires DCBL, DCBL guarantees to execute the writ within 7 days.

One LL commemted he had spent £6000 on legal fees to get his deadbeats out, who owed £8000.

I found an article about people who think it is unfair to evict people.

Interesting how “the council” will rehouse the people who did not pay. Socialism.

Maybe there should be a LL version of this show? You can't pay, you can't stay --72.23.xxx.xx

Yes I’ve seen older episodes and just can’t believe how long it takes to get some of these deadbeats out. I don’t know how landlords can even afford to be in business there. I think they probably have to have the properties paid off. --75.70.xx.xxx
