Three years ago, I purchased an old house that I verified via the Massachusetts lead paint abatement website had been officially de-leaded over 30 years earlier.

Since the printout of this formal document was recently thrown out by my wife - who has Alzheimers - I tried to find find it again on their website.

Well, you guessed it! It turns out that some state bureaucrat has decided to delete all of these records, forcing hundreds of those with properly de -leaded properties to de lead them again.

Would appreciate any and all of your responses to this travesty! --173.48.xxx.xxx

I am sorry to read that happened to you, i am going thru a delead process now, the previous owner didn't report this information to the city hall neither he find this paperwork at this house neither the lead inspector report... WHen i bought this house a few month ago, they just gave me a letter stating they were unaware about lead in the property (because they were so lazy and unresponsible). --73.159.xxx.xxx

No big surprise that this kind of thing occurred in Massachusetts. I am genuinely sorry to hear of your plight! --173.48.xxx.xxx

I use to run the NH lead abatement program and know all the bureaucrats in DC. Their power has gone to their heads

IF the property was indeed de-leaded then getting a new certificate would be easy - However I seriously doubt you would pass new and ever changing standards.

I would NOT live in Taxcachussets again unless I had a $100 Million in the bank.....then if I had that - I would not live there anyway - Maybe own something in the back bay of Boston so I could go see the Boston Pops Holiday concert all the time

If the property was deleaded you just need the copy of the lead inspection report and Letter of Compliance. There are probably only a few companies in your area that do that and just calling and asking for it might do the trick. I had one tell me no because the original property owner never paid them. They came out and re inspected and reissued a new Letter of Compliance for a few hundred bucks. If it was tested by the state and you need it from them..... you might as well try nailing jello to a tree. It's about as productive. --71.10.xxx.xxx

Lead paint de-leading is the biggest fraud perpetrated on consumers and homeowners . Instead of holding the companies who manufactured the lead paint or who originally knowingly applied the paint responsible, it is a game of musical chairs to see who is the last person owning the property when regulations come into effect. --198.135.xxx.xxx

Although your property was deleaded a few decades ago, how do you know that the level of what is considered deleaded has not changed?

I remember reading something about lead limits changing but I am not sure in what context it was. So I have to wonder if even having the piece of paper would matter.

Leave it to someone in government to create a problem where it doesn't exist simply by changing the standard and claiming there is now a NEW issue --72.23.xxx.xx

At least in NH, the lead cert is only good for 20 years anyway. --38.111.x.xx
