Check out this story. The LL is apparently living in a duplex with the tenant and the tenant threatens to kill him. Tenant was arrested and then released. The only place for him to go is back home to the duplex. This a cautionary tale living right next door to tenants:

Man pulls out 2 knives, threatens to kill landlord in Wilson Borough, police say

A 49-year-old Wilson Borough man pounded on his landlord’s door early Wednesday morning before pulling out two knives and threatening to kill him, police report.

Victor Fitzgerald confronted Keith Burns at 3:46 a.m. where they both live in an apartment building at 32 S. 17th St., police said.

When Burns opened the door, Fitzgerald said “he knew his girlfriend was inside,” police report. Burns responded that he didn’t know Fitzgerald’s girlfriend and that he was home alone, police added.

When Fitzgerald pulled the knives and threatened to kill him, Burns went back into his apartment and dialed 911, police said. Burns told officers that Fitzgerald appeared confused and also accused Burns of going to a party in New Jersey, police said.

Responding officers found Fitzgerald in the hallway still holding the knives, police said. He did not resist, police added.

Police did not find anyone else in Burns' apartment, a news release said.

Fitzgerald was taken to Central Booking at Northampton County Prison from where he was arraigned at 8:15 a.m. before District Judge Douglas Schlegel on charges of terroristic threats and simple assault, police and records said. Schlegel set bail at $5,000 unsecured and Fitzgerald was released, police said."

Someone at your door with two knives is kind of your cue to either not open the door, or shoot first in most places. Check your state's castle doctrine law first. One reason my house has a wall and gate. Show up without calling and you might get the "Romancing the Stone" welcome.

You may or may not be able to obtain an order of protection in such cases.

Meanwhile in my town today someone thought his girlfriend was messing around behind his back, so he burned down her fathers house! Then barricaded inside a nearby house. (I'm still on our pd email loop so I get the juicy details. LOL)

Here in Florida Stand Your Ground Law, in your house or in your car. This means inside your house or car. NOT outside...

HOWEVER a restraining order means nothing to someone that is willing to harm another person.

Wow the PA landlord is dealing with a major problem a real nutcase living next door. Post an eviction notice giving 30 days to move.

Plus the girlfriend needs to stay away from this guy as well. She will most likely be in danger around him with this guy being non trusting AND controlling due to his actions.

Don't know how I missed this - I look at the local paper website regurlarly. Anyway, Wilson Borough, Northampton County has been on the decline for years. It's right next to Easton, (Lehigh Valley) PA.

Easton has a population of just over 27,000. 4 or 5 homiicides/year are common.

I had a 2 family in Easton which I sold 12 years ago. It was in a B- or C neighborhood, 2-3 blocks from the county courthouse and police station.

Longtime tenants on the 2nd floor told me - when they occassionally heard gunshots outside, they would avoid being near the windows.

Mental health crisis.

They would have a notice to vacate on their door before they got to the police station. Eviction would be filed the next morning.

Tell the guy that the GF is sneaking into the PITA neighbors house.
