Lowe's will be closing 51 stores throughout several states and many in Canada by February 2019.

Lowes has a hard time trailing HD in per store sales. They also are trying to survive after some bad business deals (The demise of OSH). They must get rid of slow stores now, to avoid a bankruptcy.

First they purchase of OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware) lead to losses and the closing and bankruptcy last month of all OSH locations.

Then because of Sears bankruptcy filing, Lowe's made a major purchase of their excess inventory, selling things at deep discounts.

Now I hear they are closing locations. Well to close unprofitable locations is key to then staying alive in the dog eat dog world. With so many Online Sales of similar merchandise, they had to something to stay a float, even though they are still profitable.

In my neck of the woods Lowe’s built stores that seemingly are in competition with other Lowe’s stores for customers.

Miniblinds: my Lowes guy says the corded blinds have been outlawed. Their supply of cordless has not yet caught up to the demand.

Lowe's prices are typically higher than Menards and Home Depot all around, except occasionally on a few big items.

They nickel and dime you to death a lot with small things (3 screws in a package, for instance.... when everyone needs 4).

The only thing they're pretty good at is their garden department/nursery, they tend to have a good selection but its worth it to wait for the sales.

So that's why they're always a second stop for me.

As far as the new non-corded blinds, I've noticed they cost about 2 - 2 1/2x as much as the corded ones, at least as much as I've seen so far. Which is a bummer for rentals, because I typically would replace all the blinds after a tenant when I could get them around $3 apiece at Menards.

At least the broken ones, which is typically all of them lol.

But the new cordless ones are now around $10 bucks apiece now, and that adds up quick. Progress for ya. :/

Shoot..I like my local Lowes. There are three in my area so each one is within an easy drive depending on the rental I'm working on.

Just one Home Depot close to me.

plenty...Oh, I know they are not closing all the Lowes stores. None of the ones around me are on the list. I was just commenting on how convenient they are for me versus the one Home Depot located near me.
