I thought read somewhere here about a toilet flush valve that would shut down and not continue to run if there was a faulty flapper. Is there such a thing?

Fluid Master makes those. I have used them in the past, my only complaint is that they can be a little troublesome during installation. You should be able to find them at any of the big box home improvement stores. --99.32.xxx.xx

The best solution is to buy a flapper less toilet which uses a bucket arrangement. Have had great results with the Niagara flapper less toilets. The leak sentry fill valve is difficult to set up. View some videos on You tube about Niagara flapper less toilet and leak sentry fill valves. --147.194.xxx.xx

I used those for a while. It comes with a second chain and when it got hung up, it wouldn't fill the toilet with water. It wasn't worth the aggravation. --38.142.xxx.xxx
