I have an electric baseboard thermostat not working properly in a front unit of a duplex. Won't shut off, room extremely hot. Same exact problem in the rear unit of the same building. 2 different panels and meters. Two different style manufacturers, both 4 wire 220v. Fixed, but now another stat in the rear unit isn't working at all.
Not sure what's causing this. There's are typical 4 wire 220 electric baseboard stats. I have had them fail at other units in the past, but never a 3 for 1 deal. --50.32.xxx.xxx |

Hard to say - maybe from a surge. Replacing the thermostats - each one - should fix this. --73.215.xxx.xx |

I just replaced 2 today. Tenant has been manually turning them on/off for a while.. It appears to be stuck in connected mode for whatever reason.. I replaced them with honeywell.. seems to fair better (I bought bunch of those honeywell T410 from supplyhouse ) --71.232.xxx.xxx |

NE, if there had been a power I'd expect it have effected other electronics. I guessing that you just got some bad Tstats on these. Where they all originally purchased & installed at the same time? --96.237.xx.xx |

Communicate problem. They work... just not cycle. --99.203.xx.xxx |

Yes Plenty, they are either on or off like a light switch. No longer controlled by temp. --50.32.xxx.xxx |

Except for the 3rd one which isn't on at all now. --50.32.xxx.xxx |

The problem could have been caused by the opposite——a dip in supply voltage. Voltage and current are disproportional: when voltage goes down, amperage goes up. Switch contacts are rated in amps and when that rated value is exceeded, switch contacts can weld shut. This could be caused by corroded mains connections or a number of other poor system connections. Check the voltage on the line side of the stat. It should be 240 VAC +/- 10%. --174.226.xx.xxx |

It appears to be a second bad thermostat. I threw the voltmeter on it this morning and it's reading 240 at the line in. So something must've happened at the property to burn all three of these out. --174.201.x.xxx |
