I thought I had a good cleaner for getting overcooked food stuff/spills off stoves but these tenants were pigs apparently.

I've got much of it off but around the burners themselves, I just can't seem to get this stuff off. I'm thinking grinder at this point (haha).

Anyone have anything that gets this stuff that's really on there? The idiots on the internet are coming up with "oh, put this and that in a spray bottle and spray it … a few minutes and it wipes right off" .. then they show a pic of what they are doing and it's stuff that was probably overspilled from the night before … this is stuff that's been overspilled for many, many times and up to a year or more I'm assuming.

I'm thinking oven cleaner but I don't want to just do it and then have it ruin the stove top.

It may be a lot of work and may not be worth it, but one time I took the burners apart to clean around them. It was easier than trying to clean with the burners in place.

Was it worth it? I don't know, because the next tenant had it back in dirty condition in no time.

I've had cases when it was too much to clean and too risky to show the house as is (prospective tenants would walk out) and I opted to replaced the range or cook top. This was when cook tops were selling for $99. Same ones today go for $499. --99.59.x.xxx

Oh my i watched those videos! Funny when i read that you did too and had same experience as me. Light sand paper with water. Only hit those area to clean. Over cleaner may be ok to use. Read the can label. Use a scrapper like for paint.

This type of cleaning is very time consuming and often doesn't give good results. Replace the stove with a clean used one and charge tenants for stove being too dirty to clean. This is one reason I don't like gas stoves. With coil electric it's easy to swap out the drip pans. --40.133.xxx.xxx

Sometimes it is burned on to the point nothing will get it off (without scratching that makes it worse). Krud Kutter has been my go to for cleaning a greasy cooktop. Straight up in a spray bottle. Soak the area and let it sit wet for about 10 minutes. Use a plastic scraper and scrubby. Burned on mess might just require the oven cleaner or maybe a BBQ cleaner. What have you got to lose, if the finish does come off at that point or the mess doesn't, time to find a new stove. --108.44.xx.xx

Easy Off - let it set overnight. Scrape with a plastic or wooden paint stick so as not to scratch. Might take multiple applications. I never experienced damage to enamel stove-top but it can damage painted on aluminum escutcheon plates; ie burner labels, decorative stripes, etc. --73.195.xxx.xxx
