The "irony" is important. As is the fact that these are ex-tenants -- as opposed to people who are claiming you refused to rent to them because they are a mixed race couple.

I've had many false complaints filed against me. The most serious is when i refused to rent to a minority because the rent was $800 for a 3 bedroom unit and their monthly government assistance check was only $800 also, they didn't make 3 times the income. Also they refused to give me their social security number on their application or sign it.

So I was summoned to a hearing. The applicant's church as there to say how wonderful this person was and I had no reason to deny them the unit. The hearing administrator didn't want to let me talk. So I had to raise my voice, stand on the desk and shout.

I informed them that unless someone signs the application, by law I'm not allowed to run their credit. Second they did not provide all of the required information. Third their son is a convicted sex offender that has a warrant out for his arrest. Forth the applicant does not make enough money to pay the rent and keep the lights on.

The hearing officer asked to see the application. I told him how stupid do you think I am. Unless the applicant give me written permission, I'm not allowed to share this information with anyone, not even my wife, manager or partners.

I then asked for the applicant to give me permission to release her application, she refused. I so left the hearing without permission and gave them the business cards of my attorney's, all six law firms that I use.

Cool story, bro.

We have LOTS of LLs here with a "lot of houses and years of experience." But they don't seem to ALWAYS have a fairly crazy story to go along with everything that gets posted here.

Sorry, but I've grown cynical over the years -- when it comes to tenants (like most of us LLs), but also when it comes to certain stories from certain posters here. At some point, they are just too unbelievable.

Seriously -- in this one -- he says he CLIMBED UP ON A DESK AND SHOUTED at a court hearing? Bull. Absolute bull.

I just don't buy it any more. Just my opinion, of course.

Just because "African American" isn't technically correct doesn't mean that it is a "dumb phrase" or that anyone using it is "ignorant." The term appears in most dictionaries these days. It means "a black American" or "relating to black Americans." We all know that and it has nothing to do with being "ignorant" of anything. You're just been pedantic.

Would you also suggest that "landlord" is a dumb phrase used by the ignorant because it isn't about being a "lord" these days?

We all knew exactly what she meant. Some people prefer to say "African American" as opposed to "black." It doesn't mean that they are dumb, ignorant, or "desperate to sound PC." Sheesh.
