Terrifying. Florida LL's, do we know anyone in that path? And it is going to head up through GA/SC/NC...

The coverage is NOT over the top. This kind of storm...no one has experienced this in a l o n g time.

When you hear largest in ten years, worst in ten years or anything in ten years, know that this has to do with solar minimum and less solar heating energy coming in. Plan for it. You can work the stock market with this. Invest in energy stocks since it gets colder. --73.178.xxx.xx

It will be "just" a tropical storm when it hits us, Brad. So we are okay. Probably lose some shingles, maybe some flooding but nothing like Florida! --50.82.xxx.xx

It never ends, does it? One hurricane after another, and each one is "the storm of the century".

How many times can one rebuilds? How many times can the U.S govt shell out 100 Billion dollars per event? --99.59.x.xxx

Actually there haven't been that many...Florida went 11 years without getting hit until Matthew in 2016. So I think statistics are just catching up with us now. --72.188.xxx.xxx

Here in southern Connecticut its a little after 2 o'clock in the afternoon,it has been pouring rain all day ,at least that's what they tell me..The weather forecasters don't say too much about Michael, but the rain is a forerunner of the storm, always is,tomorrow,Friday, will probably be much heavier.we won't get the severe winds you people will get,we got enough with all the previous storms, the people in Connecticut are still waiting for cleanup funds from the government,,but Fred ,that won't happen for a long time,if ever? They would rather send the money overseas,to their buddies in Iraq or some other God forsaken country, rather than take care of their own.......charlie.................................................think some people call it kickback......................in the sticks ,we call it lining their own pockets...................................what would you call it?................... --32.214.xxx.xx

I hope it wheezes out for where ever it ends up going, the ground can only hold so much water and this is what loosens the tree roots, so trim off the top 1/3 or 1/4 of your trees - keep the shade without the large lever action in the wind. --76.188.xxx.xx

Incredible the damage. I haven't seen that since Andrew and the one that hit the Keys a few years ago.

And we had one death from drowning and a bunch of cars caught in flash floods from the hurricane remnamts last week that hit Arizona. I mean come on, a hurricane in Arizona, what's next, locusts?

I hope people were able to get out of the beach areas. --47.216.xx.xxx

LTD,

A lot of homes in that part of the state are frame instead of concrete block construction, so that probably didn't help matters. --72.188.xxx.xxx

More sound and canal flooding than we have seen since Irene in 2011, and that was the most seen ever before that.

At least 8 of our tenants' cars flooded to the head lights. The water was inches away from our lowest unit's back door. It did enter one garage about six inches deep. She had her stuff mostly up on pallets but some of it did get wet.

I slept through it all and by morning, most of the water had receded.

Lots of downed trees and power outages apparently. The town of Kill Devil Hills declared its own state of emergency on top of the states.

The sound outside our house right now is POUNDING the bulkhead, but never came over and there is really not that much wind so should stop soon.

One of my newest tenants (one who lost their car!) texted me, "Oh well life on a sandbar!" --50.82.xxx.xx
