I received a voice mail message from an attorney representing a Tenant that was sent a non lease renewal letter. Would you call the attorney back or wait for a written response from the attorney? --67.165.xx.xx

All calls go to voicemail. Until you're served court papers, ignore it. --173.20.xxx.xxx

You're not renewing a lease and letting it expire. What could the lawyer possibly do? Who'd pay a lawyer for such a thing since there's nothing wrong. More than likely it's someone posing as a lawyer.

Google the phone number to see if that person is a lawyer. Look their name up on internet. Take that recording and turn them into the state. Impersonating a lawyer is a crime.

Call their bluff by throwing them in jail if they're impersonating a lawyer. Wouldn't even threaten it, just do it. --108.69.xxx.xxx

I wouldn't even respond, there is no obligation and the only thing that can happen is negative so why bother --72.231.xxx.xxx

It's been my experience that lawyers make friendly requests by phone, but convert to letters when they get more serious. --108.69.xxx.xxx

I’m not sure I could ignore, I would want to know. It does seem odd that tenant received non-renewal and instead of calling you went straight to an attorney. I wonder if it is a friend or relative and making an initial call at no charge. --24.61.xxx.xx

Unless you're personally acquainted with their attorney, I'd wait for their letterhead to arrive in the mail. --96.46.xxx.xx

Send your res a text ‘Why is an atty calling me?’

By any chance did the tenant make some repair request that you denied or report you to a state agency? Could the attorney be after you making a case that you retaliated unlawfully? --76.183.xxx.xxx

Most likely a friend doing them a favor. Either way, I would not respond to a voicemail. --23.30.xx.xxx

Attorneys make phone calls? Every attorney I know about sends a letter on their official letterhead, with all their titles and degrees listed.

I would Google the phone number and name. 99% chance, it is a buddy pretending to be a lawyer. --174.216.x.xx

Very very small chance it is an ambulance chaser hoping to get your eviction business. Although, even then, it would most likely be a letter and not a phone call. --174.216.x.xx
