I've always posted photos, but I'd like to start doing video walkthrough. However, video files are very large. Can those of you that do this please describe how you get those large files from a camera or video device uploaded to a place like Zillow? Do you use special compression software? How long does a 5 minute video take to upload? How long are your walkthrough videos?

Any other tips?

Do you use your smartphone or a SLR Camera or what? I don't want to buy a bunch of equipment...although I probably would be a gimbal.

If you have a specific gimbal brand, please provide it along with a model number.

Download the rental manager Zillow app. It will permit you to video and upload directly from the app. It's limited to two minutes and removes the sound for you. It will permit you to stop and start the filming multiple times and will patch the footage together. --73.177.xxx.xx

Upload to YouTube and then link to Zillow. Compression on YouTube will take care of the massive storage requirements.

5 minutes video... yikes! People these days have 10-20 second attention spans. If what you're showing isn't dynamite (as in, literally blowing a house up with TNT), they will move on.

Most of my vids are 1.5 - 2 minutes. I recommend taking pan shots of each room and weaving them together. There's no need to capture every second. This is a walk thru of a rental, not a documentary of Windsor Castle. (grins) --173.19.x.xxx

You don't need to have everything in one cut. Just record one room, stop, and then go to the next room and resume filming. The app will patch the footage together. --73.177.xxx.xx

Ok, more good ideas...thanks.

I was guessing at 5 minutes...I'll get it down to 2 min.

Great input folks! --99.92.xxx.xxx

Iphone 6

Wide angle lens by Moment $69

Smooth Q stabilizer $99

With a little practice I can do the entire house in one take.

Mine are geared for the serious prospect so are 5-7 minutes long, not a quick teaser. The see the neighborhood, the backyard...everything.

Create a YouTube channel with my company name.

Title the video with street name for security.

Takes about 20 minutes to upload while I write the descritpion and a bunch of keywords.

Once loaded you can add music.

Free on YT.

YT gives you a link to use in your advertising and shows you what time the vid was viewed and for how long. Most don’t watch the whole thing.

I figure every viewing is one less phone call or text to answer questions.

Some of mine have over 1,000 views.

I agree to keep videos under 2 minutes. Closer to 1.5&( you can.

I upload to YouTube from my phone and use that as virtual tour link. --70.178.x.xx

Google best length for videos. That issue has been well researched. You will be amazed how little attention time span we have --24.34.xx.xxx
