Whats the best SOP for business phones?

Back in the day, I had an extra cell phone line added to my regular account. $10/mo with its own number. Used that for all my investing flips/rentals/webuyhouses type stuff.

We are settled now in the town where we want to retire so Im gearing the rentals/investing back up. Dedicated cell line still the way to go? or are there other better options out now ?

I just use one phone for business and personal. Caller ID pretty much screens everything out. If you want a dedicated number, I would still only get one cell phone. Then, get a Google voice number on top of that and forward all those calls to your cell. You can set that ringer different for forwarded calls and know immediately if it's business or personal. It's free. No reason to pay for a second line that way. --98.175.xxx.xxx

There are many options that would allow you to have more than one number but only one phone. Google Voice is a free one. There are others that are paid services with more features. --166.137.xxx.xx

I have a land line. I have three cell phones. Different uses for all. I could figure out how to mesh into one but the cost isn't that much and I like separation of personal, business, rentals. --72.70.xxx.xx

I've also used Google Voice since 2013, as a free way to carry a single phone with multiple numbers.

The first time a number calls your GV number, Google Voice tells them to speak their name. Then it uses that recording every time that number calls you again. It's a little confusing for some people--- they think they've misdialed, and they hang up; or they start talking, thinking the connection has gone through; or they don't feel comfy in giving their name to a recording; or whatever.

Before I signed up, I had approached my carrier (AT&T), saying, "I have a biz, and I'd like a second number to feed through to the same device. How much would something like that run?" And it would have cost me about $50/month. I'm not in a market, or at a size, where I felt like paying $600/year for "image", so I went with GoogleVoice instead. --96.46.xxx.xx

Can you send a text through google voice? We have one un-trainable tenant who only communicates through text. --137.119.xxx.xxx

You can send a text via Google Voice. You must have the app on your phone and text through it. It does not go through your default texting app. --98.175.xxx.xxx

I text through GoogleVoice through both my desktop and my phone app. I also like getting transcriptions of voice messages in my email, which I can also access through either my phone or computer. --166.137.xxx.xx

Hammer,

We do texting on the desktop thru Google Voice. We can print out the entire thread/conversation for court.

MY judge will accept it same as any written communcation.

If this helps your decision: we don’t answer the phone. Ever. Google voice also gives us a written transcript of the voice calls with every word of their voicemail typed out with a time stamp. Again, great for records.

The outgoing message points them to the website for imfo and apps. No need to talk until we see what they can afford.

Saves TONS of time.
