I came back inside this morning after taking care of our animals and I walk in the kitchen and my five year old son has the under cabinet heater blowing full blast while the whole house air conditioning is running.

I said, "buddy what are you doing? "

"I'm cold!", he said.

Haha. I've got my work cut out for me.... --74.37.xx.xx

You may have to temporarily increase his tax rate in order to cover the cost of running the heater. --166.137.xxx.xx

It's best to sleep with temps in the 65 to 68 degree. It's healthier.

Your son may have to put another layer on, a hoodie with heavier pants. Maybe a tee shirt and shorts are too cold for him. Maybe extra blanket on the bed...

The cure or quit notice may move him into his mom and dads bedroom OR a box in the living room.

It's colder on the floor where he is. Since heat rises, you are breathing hotter air especially if you are tall. Same in winter. Kids are freezing and so is the short wife while dad's head is up in the heat layer by the ceiling. I put a thermometer on the floor to make sure my little dogs are comfortable in summer and winter. One little guy needs a sweater at night and sometimes during the day, in winter.

Used to be a product that was a six to eight food long tube with a fan at the bottom that would bring the warm air down and circulate it at floor level. It was small so not sure how good it was.

Sleeves and long pants and a little hat will help your little boy. Kids suffer a lot and can't help themselves. --73.178.xxx.xx

I'm don't want to sound out of date or ignorant - but what's an under cabinet heater?

It's going to be 118 here on Wednesday - forget cooling to 65. We used to keep it at 72, but went to 76-78 in the day and 74-75 at night and don't notice much difference except the ac runs a lot less.

How did we ever forget this one? The 30 year old man who's parents had to evict him recently. Could be worse NE. LOL

Under cabinet heater: toe kick heater, barrel fan heater.

Cut a hole in the kick plate of a kitchen cabinet or bath vanity to install when you don't have wall space for electric baseboard or hot water baseboard. --174.201.xx.xx

Medical note from my classes on Human Growth and Development: at age 6-7 their nerves are going thru a change and they are super sensitive. Even their hair hurts. Fo rizzle.

I have two kids. They lived in adjacent rooms. Kid 1 would be under a blanket and a sheet when the a/c was 78 degrees. Kid 2 would be wearing as little sleepwear as modesty allowed, have no covers, would have the ceiling fan blowing down on "high", but between all that and the a/c, was still "dying of heat".

NE, at least he's beginning to show problem-solving skills! --71.175.xxx.xxx
