I'm looking to replace a 18-20 year old furnace (Bryant).

The three brands I'm looking at are: Goodman/Rheem and Lennox.

Looking at a 96% efficiency furnace, dual stage.

Has anyone had experience with any of these brands.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Regards

Recently have had installs of all of those three. All seem fine, perhaps made in same factory... ? Pretty common brands. I'm sure someone will come along with all the technical information. --99.203.xx.xx

I've been a good man fan. Hope this is not for a rental unless you're paying utilities on it. As efficiency increases, so do the moving parts, maintenance and service calls! --174.234.xxx.xx

Agree with #22. Repair costs aren't worth it. Go with 85% efficiency. --204.210.xxx.xxx

My furnace guy is installing Goodman for several years now and have had no problem.I would be more concerned with the installer than the brand of furnace --72.231.xxx.xxx

All my goodmans seem to go out just after the warranty period. 10 to 12 years.

Also notice about every 10 years they advertise they make an improvement to one of their problems. Last time was the indoor coils.

This can also happen with other brands but more common with goodman. --73.152.xx.xxx

95% requires a water drip pipe and I heard they break faster than others. I have a Burnham which has a very good reputation. --69.141.xxx.xxx

It is possible to buy a high efficiency with a single stage where there are fewer parts. Remember the peak output for a high efficiency is higher then a standard efficiency furnace so the output can be multiplied by .95 not .80 which means the furnace can be down sized. No chimney will be required where the furnace can be vented directly through the wall. A concentric vent looks better as one hole through the wall. A high efficiency furnace has two heat exchangers where the secondary heat exchanger extracts heat that would go up the chimney. --147.194.xxx.xxx

I think someone here mentioned ACdirect as a source and getting their HVAC to install. No personal experience --71.50.xxx.xx

Find the single stage version with a capacitor drive motor, those dual/multi speed parts are horribly expensive and the first 2000bux repair will kill any gas saving you were hoping for, just sending the furnace guys kids to college. --76.188.xxx.xx
