Does anyone have any experience with DIY web stores / sites? Needs to be simple and cheap. No HTML experience required kind of site. Anyone ever hear of weebly? --65.188.xxx.xxx

I really like weebly. Made my own website with their easy drag-and-drop system. No knowledge of computer languages required. And I think it looks really good. Lots of options for different pages and links, etc.

It's also affordable. --68.10.xxx.xxx

Pretty much the only thing the web site needs is the ability to put pictures of products to sell on it for a home based business and a way to complete the transaction. Of course a second web site could be set up for the rental business to show available houses. --65.188.xxx.xxx

I built my site using Weebly's basic plan (not the free one, the $7/month one). Although I'm in IT, I don't do much HTML or web design. Their drag-n-drop designer is very easy to use and provides all the essential elements you need.

It is both simple and inexpensive. --173.17.xx.xx

I'm getting caught in the filter. Could someone let it through? Remind me, who do I need to email to get a list of what's not allowed? :) --96.46.xxx.xx

David,

(not Sid) My weebly website is for my R.E. investment LLC. It can do so much more than I even do with it. I have the same basic plan as Sid. Of course, you can make a website for anything you want. Check mine out if you would like:

So-- my original post had more details about what features come with each site. But the filter is chewing it up, and it hasn't been dislodged.

High points-- shopping carts and online stores are dynamic. They involve higher levels of security, if you're processing cc payments. Good places to look at are iPage, Wix, SiteGround, MotoCMS, BlueHost, FatCow, JustHost, and WebHostingHub. I haven't used any of them, but you might check those out and see how you like their online store features and how user-friendly the rest of it is.

For a static page, like "These are some houses for rent" or "Print out the order form and mail it with an enclosed check", Squarepace, Wix, Weebly, and Placester have been well-reviewed.

Me, I make do with a copy of FrontPage 2003 and Photoshop 6.0 and a webhost.

Experiment with a handful of sitebuilders and see whose results/interface appeals to you, before you commit to one. --96.46.xxx.xx

@DJ nice site, well thought out. Probably something more akin to what I am looking for in the RE area. For home business I'll have to figure out shopping cart / payment portal.

@Deanna yes so many choices and no time to figure it all out. I guess I'll have to find some time to do more research.

Thanks everyone! --65.188.xxx.xxx

@Tim can you do everything through weebly or do you need to have both weebly and godaddy? --71.50.xxx.xx

I believe you can go through Weebly for all. But I was originally with Microsoft until they jumped their rates big time. So I did GoDaddy host, Weebly design...

Just make sure you have an on line application. Saves so much time. Make them fill out first, then show... --184.53.xx.xxx
