Message:

I heard this this morning and I thought applies quite well to what we do and thought I'd share it.

John 10: 11-18

11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” --50.107.xxx.xxx

Maybe it is more of a scripture on ownership. Either way, I thought it was pretty neat. --50.107.xxx.xxx

That was us this morning as well. :)

"Beloved:

See what love the Father has bestowed on us

that we may be called the children of God.

Yet so we are.

The reason the world does not know us

is that it did not know him.

Beloved, we are God's children now;

what we shall be has not yet been revealed.

We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him,

for we shall see him as he is." --96.46.xxx.xx

NE,

Nice!

Church can change our lives.

14-18 sums up the entire Bible.

I love that Jesus, the Good Shepherd knows me...and you.

God bless,

Message:

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

Work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Jeremiah, chapter 29, verse 11.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

I'm doing a lot of training nationwide these days on Fair Housing and the following comes to mind. At the end of his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963, civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. alludes to the apostle Paul’s words in Galatians 3:28: “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus” (NRSV). --72.214.xx.x

I think Colossians 3:23 (above), as well as Colossians 3:17 "and whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father through him" are applicable to land lording - as well as life & work in general.

Also check out 1 Chronicles 29:11-12

"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all." Pretty much the basis for why I am the property manager, I'm really NOT the owner.

Cool thread! : ) --68.10.xxx.xxx

2 Thessalonians 3:10 was what my mother quoted for me with regularity: "He does not work shall not eat"

Interesting how contemporary Scripture is - people's hearts and inclinations haven't changed much in the last few millennia.
