Message:

Tenant said it was taking too long so we replaced it with a used one we had. We checked the fuses, high limit switch, and element and all have continuity.

The other thing it mentions it can be, blower housing fan jammed with sock, etc., don't think so, I reached it & could turn fan blade. Also mentioned moisture sensor, so IDK. It is a Kenmore I think it is about 15 years old. Just toss it? --71.51.xxx.xxx

Any appliance this old is not worthy of repair.

See if the problem is just lint clogging the dryer.

If not, get a new dryer. --99.59.x.xxx

Normally this is the heating element which is an easy and inexpensive fix. 15 years old? Time to replace it. --71.75.xx.xx

When I do a quick addition in my head as to the value of the parts that still work on this unit, I struggle with the waste of discarding it. Unfortunately, that is the world that we live in today.

At our age, we just don't feel like wrestling with these needy units. My DH wants me to stop furnishing the washers & dryers, thank goodness, we are not responsible for all 20 units, probably half.

I might offer it on a yard sale site for free. --71.51.xxx.xxx

I've taken off the back and vacuumed it out, then put it back with a new hose to the outside, and often that does the job. --131.151.xx.xx

Perhaps the washer is not spinning enough water out, and the load is too wet to begin with when the clothes are stuck in the dryer. --100.6.xx.xxx

Pat, that's a great reminder to me. I need to clean out my dryer vent traps yet this year.

One thing I have noticed is, tenants seem to buy new things more often than my family. And new things yield much more lint than old things . (Except for me and hubs. We seem to be shedding more as we get older *grin*) --208.54.xx.xxx

Wanted to mention on high efficiency furnaces to care for the exhaust is needed. We have an 94% furnace that was on and off-- changed every part in it. Still was intermitant.

I know the exhaust was the PVC type and had a screen on it so no birds nest. Decided since I looked at everything to go outside with a ladder------ low and behold a wasp nest. it was tumbling around in the pipe like a tumble weed. it wasn't perfctly round and when it was in the pipe just so-- it back flowed the pressure and furnace would shut off sensing with a message LOW Flow. --99.103.xxx.xxx
