Go phone or vm line??

Hi haven’t been around in a while. Our renters of 4 yrs are leaving. Looking to list but don’t want to use our cell phones. Is there a voicemail line I can purchase without having to have a phone? Or recs for a go phone for cheap w a voicemail? Thx --68.48.xx.xx

I advertise on craigslist and facebook groups and in both places I don't even put a phone number which means they respond through craigslist and facebook and I can deal with it at my convenience instead of getting 20 calls at an inconvenient time. --72.231.xxx.xxx

I use an app called "Burner". It acts just as a normal phone number. It has voice mail, text, calls, and picture messaging.

You can pick a local number to use, too. I use it to screen and then give the approved tenants my real number. --174.226.x.xxx

Chalk up another one for Google Voice; using it for our rentals going forward. Wish this had been available years ago, it would have been ideal. Never have been happy with tenants having our cell or home numbers. Have had a POB for rentals, did not feel tenants needed to know where we live.

Another Google Voice user.

I picked it up to give me separation between personal and biz use, but also because my personal cellphone was from a different area code. I didn't want to give people the impression of an absentee landlord, or a rich out-of-town investor. I wanted to get a local number. However, Google Voice only has area codes attached to major urban areas. So while the number looks local, it phones long-distance, although with cellphones, it's less of a a big deal.

My favorite part is the voice transcription. If I'm not recognizing a number or actively offering a house, I like letting it go to voicemail and then reading what their message says. --166.137.xxx.xx

It does a great job of translating to text UNLESS your caller has an extreme accent, such as a southern drawl. I can usually figure it out but some of the translations are pretty funny. --50.82.xxx.xx

Liz,

Our advertising sends folks to our website for info, photos, video walkthru, and free applications. THe only place they can find our phone # is on the website.

We use Google Voice and show it as a TEXT number. The texts show on the desktop and we can type a reply or cut/paste a standard response.

We don't TALK to anyone until we have their app.
