I am changing heating systems after much thought and consideration.

I am going with a Williams chimney vented heater. I presently have one of those old gas on gas stoves...cooking stove with heater on the side. Heats like crazy but at times the heat just goes off and needs to be relit. Hard to find parts and service people, plus I want to upgrade.

Home Depot has both 20,000 and 35,000 models. I am inclined to with the 35,000 unit. The cost at HD is $635 with free delivery. The blower is optional at $153 so total is $788 and I'm sure tax will be added on.

I searched online and found a company in Chicago called Alpine. They have the model for $762 with a built in blower...nice because I don't need a power source to run it like I would with the optional blower, also free shipping.

It's not about the money. I usually like to get things locally because if there are any issues, I can just return it. From Chicago, this is harder.

I like the built in blower, but even without it, there is a ceiling fan that will swirl the heat. Do you guys shop a lot on line and have good luck, or stay local. --32.215.xxx.xxx

I've used Alpine and they are terrific. I bought my home system from them last year and the service was great.

I am replacing 12 to 13 systems this spring and spoke with them and the discount they're offering is unbelievable.

The only thing you need to be aware of is most manufacturers will not honor the warranty for items bought online unless it is installed by a certified or licensed (depending on your state requirements)installer. --71.75.xx.xx

I don't care for the Goodman brand.

I would have not problem with buying from 0n-line. I believe it will be commonplace in just a few short years.

Jo, I have never bought anything on line. But my younger daughter does every thing on line, from booking airline seats to God knows what.Like someone else mentioned ina few years there will be no brick and mortar stores around.I believe that. Also some of the online stores forgo the tax, how long that will last, who. Knows.Later when the weather gets warmer, I may break down and get a minisplit on the Internet.I inquired already and their ads keep popping up on a frequent basis.I don't know any outfit up your way to suggest to you,but I would try a supply house that the trades frequent, moreso than HD or Lowes.........charlie.......................................................... --174.199.xx.xxx

Cjo'h from what I have heard mini splits don't work great n extremely cold weather, besides, I want something that will work on the event of a power outage.

Unfortunately, the heater that I wanted was too big for the space. ...would get in the way of entering a bedroom.

What I need is a tall wall mounted wall furnace that vents out a chimney. All the ones I saw were direct vent through a wall. --32.215.xxx.xxx
