A couple of years ago I put in new floor tile (beige) in the bedrooms at a rental. I used a beige grout that closely matched the tile color.

Some of the prospects who contacted me said they thought from my CL ad photos of the bedroom floors that it was carpet (which was a negative to them) because in the photos the grout color blended with the tile and the lines disappeared.

What color grout do people on here prefer? Do you think white grout with beige tile would be better in the future? I've seen some online photos where it looks good but I wonder about dirt showing up easily on white grout.

I prefer dark grey grout, helps hide the stains that will come over time --75.141.xxx.xxx

I agree with Homer and use a dark gray grout. It will hide the dirt and stains. --174.105.xxx.xxx

I'd just point out in the description that they are tile floors. And never use white grout if it can be avoided! It will be white for the first month only. --70.16.xx.xx

If tiles have a pattern - use darkest shade of the pattern.

For example: if it beige with dark brown veins - use dark brown. --69.120.xxx.xxx

With beige tile, I would use dark brown grout. The darker, contrasting grout is modern/stylish and doesn't show dirt. Win, Win! --68.105.xxx.xxx

You did an excellent color tile and grout in the rental. When you advertise the unit give a good discription of the floor. --99.56.xx.xx

I don't like the contrast grout, as close as possible like you did, I do blend my bathroom tiles but don't use anything white or dark, always have to spend bleach-scrub to clean it up. --76.188.xxx.xx

Just put it in your ad that the floor is tile. Your color choice is fine. If applicants miss that in the ad, you have automatically screened out people who can't or won't read.

If the entire unit is carpet-free and that is a positive in your area, put "no carpet" in your ad title and see if that gets you a different type of response --174.216.xx.xxx

Thanks. I did eventually put it in the ad description after a couple of people mentioned it. It really did look like carpet in the photos! --72.188.xxx.xx

I usually match the grout to the tile, or use a slightly darker shade of grout.

If the grout is too light it will show the dirt, even if you seal it. If the grout contrasts too much with the tile, it will show any imperfections in the laying of the tiles. --65.94.xxx.xxx
