Well my last job has been awful.

I spent 20 years as a Family Medicine doctor owning my practice, then 10 as a Hospitalist for a massive hospital chain, and the last 3 1/2 working for the US government. I have seen the practice of medicine go from an honorable profession in the 80s to a behemoth run poorly by massive corporations or the government. I fired them last week when I got tired of my immediate boss being a bully.

I have RETIRED and will be a Landlord only from this point on. Now to find health insurance.

I like that you said you fired them. I got downsized from a well known publisher and starting working on the buildings my dad left to my mom twenty plus years ago. No boss anymore. Just me free to prioritize and do a good job. --73.33.xxx.xxx

I second what Lana has said. I am sure she will be greatly missed by the nurses she used to work with -- as she is a native English speaker!

Lana, try Christian Healthcare Ministries if you are Christian. Very cost effective health cost sharing and you will not be paying for "services" that you will not be using. I am 62 and even with the extra cost sharing that I purchased, it is less than $150 a month. --98.146.xxx.xx

I spent 30 years working for the federal government (in health care).

So glad I'm retired.

And another reason I want nothing to do with the section 8 program.

This is a good move so you can keep your blood pressure in the -fun- level, in a few years you might consider offering some time as a consultant at 5 times the old salary, some industries need guidance and it really helps both ends of the candle. --76.188.xxx.xx

Not to pee on your parade but your going to realize you went from working with intelligent educated people to dealing with non-caring morons who are constantly looking to get one over on you.

I'm making this point in general terms.

Congratulations Lana!

I retired from the govmt in 2012 and was immediately freed of a burden I didn't know I was carrying till it was gone, no to mention the long highway commute!

Everyone says retirement is hard and you miss the people, and the inter-action, and the responsibility, and the satisfaction. Everyone says the thrill of sleeping late and staying home sours fast after a month. Not ME. I loved it instantly. Then the pension kicked in, then the SS kicked in, and I felt rich. --108.87.xx.xxx

Lana, welcome to our group. What you're going to be doing is work too,but less agrivating Here in New Haven, the medical profession is having the same problem you had.Yale is sticking their nose into everything Medical, and taking over private practices and Hospitals.and are at loggerheads with the insurance companies .Yale wants to have the last word. Ego.Ego.Ego.Egotistical. What Rathdrum Gal suggests is excellent. I worked in construction for years and always looked forward to going to work,we had the run of the jobs and were able to do them as we saw fit.No interference whatso ever.Wasn't really like work. JR in Maine is in the same profession as you,so get in touch with him.... Charlie .......again all the best..................................... --174.199.x.xx
