Yes you can buy them for both natural gas & propane. However I don't believe they are legal to use in MA. --72.93.xxx.xxx

Rose, your stove may be "grandfathered". That means you can use it, but cannot replace it with the same type.

I vaguely recollect a housing inspector telling me that. --73.16.xxx.x

TenantWhisperer, just because an inspector told you doesn't make it so,tell him to put it in writing, that is when you find out the truth, they will tell you anything but will only put in writing the truth.I love it when I tell them that and they start yelling at me telling me they know what they are doing,i just look at them and tell them then just give me something to appear in front of the judge and I will explain it to him,but they never do --72.231.xxx.xxx

I have replaced all of mine throughout the years. Those have to be vented through chimney vent.

I have couple Williams gas space heater and gas wall heater (low profile) which you can potentially do that if you have room next to the gas stove.

Thanks everyone for your inputs. Unable to find a stove near me that works. My next option is to put a small heater near a small cooking stove. --71.174.x.xx

Rose, you still there? I installed a pellet burning stove in the living room in front of where we had an open fireplace that we used on occasion.mostly for effect. It did work well.the fireplace was well built by a good bricklayer who knew what he was doing.I bought the stove at Lowes, one that was brought back to them by a customer who thought it was defective.Lowes had an technician from the factory who found a little switch in the lid, where you put the loose pellets.I watched them lower their price gradually to where I thought it was worth,to $200.00.I bought it.they didn't make any money on me,maybe in the long run by buying their pellets which are about$250.00 an American Tonne plus delivery I get Two Tonne which lasts well into the second winter. As the year progresses they up their price.typical business strategy. To me it was a good deal,It's probably a good deal, even if you have to pay full price for the stove. My daughter in Boston put me onto it first, she had one in her house, which she left there, when she converted to a rental, the tenants were enthralled with it and are still her tenants.very safe.charlie................................................................................. --174.199.xx.xx

I have never seen the setup that you describe, but don't use a natural gas fueled room heater that is not vented outside. carbon monoxide will kill you. --73.141.xxx.xxx

Cjo'h my mom's house is very old and we can not afford to do any renovations. Right now I need a miricle. She would not enable to take care of that on her own anyways. I guess I have to just get a small heater to go where the stove was for now. Thank you though for caring. I never had a Christmas like this before. --71.174.x.xx

Rose, there are some nice little electric heaters that you can plug into the regular outlet, with a blower in them.you just have to make sure you don't have anything else drawing current. When I bought this place ,I had to have a new electric service put in There was only a 30Amp fuse for the whole house, surprised it hadn't burned to the ground.charlie.......................................................................... --174.199.xx.xx
