Had fleas recently twice now. Changing over from carpet to allure but debating not allowing pets or requiring they document flea meds - creates a big paperwork and new job so really do not want to. To busy already.
Ideas? Looking for prevention.

I don't know of a good way for flea prevention other than regular spraying on a regular schedule. My exterminator charges $75 for a treatment, guaranteed for 90 days. Wait until move-out, then treat.
Allure is one of my favorite flooring types, but it won't prevent fleas, unfortunately. Had a place that was all hardwood and Allure throughout and had a terrible infestation. Took 3 treatments by exterminator to clobber them all! Luckily, I only had to pay for one. --173.19.xx.xxx |

Fleas like bedbugs are getting terribly resistant to treatment and in my experience, no pet fees cover ther cost of eradicating a bad infestation. Keep repeating treatments. --216.23.xxx.xx |

My own dogs got fleas. I bought flea bombs and bombed the house when we left.
Our dogs are treated with medication topically in Massachusetts, orally in Florida.

Don,
Congrats on carpet-free!! Your life will be easier!
Documentation will not stop fleas.
When the treatment is on or in the animal the fleas die after biting the treated animal. When the animal leaves the property, there is no longer any flea poison in the house. Flea eggs can wait 3? years before hatching, activated by vibration such as a LL walking thru the house.
Scenario: treated dog moves out, LL walks thru house activating eggs, 3 days later the LL is eaten alive by thousands of hungry fleas.
We use Phantom from DoMyOwnPestControl.com because that's what the pros use. Usually takes 2-3 treatments because the eggs hatch.
My lease is clear: The Non-Refundable Animal Registration Fee and monthly animal rent are NOT to cover damage by animals. Any damage to the property is charged to the resident and deducted from the deposit.
I market to attract pet owners! because I make more money and have almost no issues.
Without carpet it will be easier to rent to animals.
With an In-Home Visits prior to final approval we KNOW what pet we are approving.
Fleas are seldom but we're prepared to treat them during turnover. No biggie.

You will have to treat twice.....the first treatment will kill the adults but not the eggs, five days later, you will have them again.....so treat again after 4 days --24.239.xx.xxx |

no fleas
no pets
pretty simple.
but out people have pets, they have to pay a pet fee (non returnable) and pet rent and they have to keep the pet up.
Most can't afford to do so. So accept pets, but make the terms pretty stiff and hurt more in the pocket book! --184.206.xxx.xx |
