Our homemade carpenter bee trap is working great. We caught about 8 within the first couple of days.

We like this one because you can see the captured carpenter bees, and then empty the trap easily. www.youtube.com/watch?v=77dUONGOkQI --71.246.xxx.xx

I like the simplicity. Think I will make one as a tester. Will work when I am not there swinging the tennis racquet.

Wonder if putting a little Talstar in there will help? Maybe not needed. --107.147.xx.xx

Nothing extra needed so far. They seem to be very attracted to the holes. (Maybe we'll miss swinging that tennis racquet. We actually bought a battery-operated zapper tennis racquet for this purpose a few years ago, but just ended up mostly using the regular one.) --71.246.xxx.xx

Yep, I have made several of those, not engraved though. They work well for the most part. Good project. --76.129.xxx.xx

I have a friend who asked me if I knew how to get rid of woodpeckers. I sent him info on carpenter bees. He thought I was crazy...asked me why I sent that when his issue is with woodpeckers. I told him that one of the main reasons woodpeckers "peck" on wood is to get to carpenter bee larvae hidden in the wood.

It's like moles in your yard. The best way to get rid of them is to get rid of their food...KILL THE GRUBS. --64.38.xxx.xxx

Except when you kill the grubs the moles move to the neighbor's yard.

Had that happen at my old place. I used to hop the fence and put traps out for moles over there. Neighbor was all for it. She moved and the new neighbor didn't like the violence.

He spent days walking down the lanes and digging the pop up mounds, taking the dirt away. Umm, it came from somewhere.

He finally had a lawncare crew come in and kill the grubs. That was when I got my first moles at that house. --107.147.xx.xx
