Laundry coin box lock dam (by David E [MA]) Oct 19, 2020 4:01 PM Message:
My maytag ESD magcard commercial coin box has been drilled out and damaged. There is a large hole where the lock is and I can see the coins. However, I can not open the coin box no way to turn the latches. Need recommendations on getting this coin box opened.
Thank you --209.6.xxx.xx |

Do you have the key to the upper lock located behind the box? Maybe you can see where the internal damage is at from the back end looking forward.
When you use the key on those boxes the leading edge of the expands outward another 3/8 of inch or so and locks into the machine housing.
If the lock area was damaged, I am not all that sure if you open it up.
The movement to lock our boxes is clockwise so if you would drill the damaged box lock in a counter clockwise manner, you just might get lucky enough to have it catch and unlock the lock. --24.101.xxx.xx |

Use a sharp pick/skinny flat head screw to wiggle through the hole.. I have done that and worked for me.. If coin is full, then it may jam the latch/lock to certain degree.. keep wiggling.. --71.117.xxx.xx |

Use a big screwdriver with a hammer and try to twist open. I've also used a drill and an angle grinder to cut it to get it out. Be careful. We put steel plates with disk padlocks infront of our coin boxes. --66.30.xx.xx |

I am in the middle of this same thing since Thursday, get replacement locks for everything and grind open what you have to, replace all the locks, chances are you can flatten out the doors with a bigger hammer and put it all back in one afternoon. --76.188.xxx.xxx |

I would purchase a new coin box, showing you the 4 places you have to drill to remove the cover over the coin tray. Then using Rock Hard premium bits with either carbide or cobalt. --47.155.xx.xxx |
