I have been binge watching building science on water/capillary/vapor management. It absolutely makes your head spin with all the new information and makes you a better DIY/contractor if you truly care.
My mind is racing through how all the rotten trims around the 10 year old house I am about to sell. I laugh at myself for the mindset of caulking every crack/holes outside, thinking that it is water proofing without knowing how a building wall function when it comes to moisture and drying process..
I highly recommend "Moisture Management Fundamentals with Joe Lstiburek" on youtube, and others from fine home building

Joe is extremely knowledgeable on the latest & best ways to properly seal, insulate & ventilate building envelopes. He is one of the first people to advocate using double wall construction for exterior walls.
