Is there a question?
what you describe sounds right. did they give any notice and/r was there an inspection or complaint raised by the local Town/County Gov't? --173.70.xxx.xxx |

Unless you are in a rent-controlled area, then you have no right to stay there (assuming the landlord gave proper notice).
Is the garage a legal dwelling place? a certificate that it is fit for human occupancy?

Respect the landlord and move out. It is her property
not yours. --74.236.xxx.xxx |

You need to contact the local board of health asap to see if the garage is legal for you to be living in. Have them do an inspection. If you are low income there is plenty of free legal help to assist you. You possibly have a big payday lawsuit against the landlord if they are not following the health and safety codes or the garage is not a legal residence. DO THIS ASAP!!! --98.229.xxx.xxx |

If you are in a garage I am thinking motor home, but the possibilities are endless, if you have to go look for a well managed place so you can be comfortable - it is healthy when you are smiling. --76.188.xxx.xxx |

Janet doesn't understand. KY or CA, the property is yours (to use) so long as you have a legal tenancy. Landlord sold you an interest in the property (leasehold interest) and the property is yours to use so long as your use and occupancy is within the interest that you own. CA law governs the conditions under which you can stay or you must move, not the landlord.
See a competent attorney if you want to explore the possibility of your staying. The organization called "Housing Rights Center" is a legal resource that can give you legal advice if you are in Southern California.

Why would you want to live in a garage?
Is the place even a dwelling?
Where Moshe might be correct about your rights........you might want to check in with her and see if she a BETTER garage for you to move into with her.
I don't fully understand what you are asking here.......but a garage isn't a livable space - don't live there. --24.239.xx.xxx |

Is it a garage apartment? With a kitchen, bath, bedroom, and living room? Or are you actually living in the bays where you'd park a car?
One of the nice things about a lease-- whether it's a 12-month lease or a month-to-month lease-- is that it's written on paper. These are the expectations. This is what you need to do to start living here. This is what you need to do while you live here. This is how you stop living here. This is the process for modifying any of the above. It protects both people, because the expectations are set down in writing for the world to see, and everyone agrees to the terms.
I'd suggest you find a place where you're not so subject to other people's whims-- your garage seems to be the equivalent of crashing on a friend's couch. Find someone who runs their biz like a business, and treats your agreement like the legal contract that it is. Presumably, it's been cheap doing things the way you have been--- but you see the downside of doing things informally. --96.46.xxx.xx |
