I've read on this sight that a black light will detect pet pee in carpet. I have a new vacancy that I know the new carpet was covered with puppy pee. But, last night I took a black lite in the dark and can't see any spots. The carpet has been cleaned by the tenants. Is my lite not strong enough? 216.127.220.199
I mention the black light method as I use it in my properties. Are you using an actual black "fluorecent" light? A black light bulb will not work. I has to be dark in the room. I know that it works for cat urine. I did see in my own home where my dog has her accident, but it does not show up as brilliantly as cat urine. All types of chemicals (stains) show with the light. I did try to video the damage, but it did not show up. At least I could take a witness and the leaving tenant thru the property and show them the damage. I found out about the light thru Handyman Magazine. I use white vinger for the cat urine removal. It works well and I don't have to use other expensive chemicals. 216.240.163.161
Karin; You can't photograph what you see under UV light because the glass used in camera optics filters out light of that wavelength. It can be done with some very expensive and specialized camera lenses. That makes it very difficult to document the damage if you need to use it, for example, in court. 209.32.152.85
Check around the toilet bowl and floor..in the rental or your own home. If the light is a black light you will be amazed at what you see! 24.4.255.193
Our 16-year-old cat occasionally has accidents, and we can smell, but we can't see it. I bought a black fluoresecent light and was amazed at the number of "accidents". I'm going to insist that my pet-owning tenants purchase a black light for tracking their pets, and treat stains themselves. 198.172.19.2
