We have a non-smoking clause on the lease, but what type of clause should I have in the lease for "no

chewing tobacco" and any other substance like that??

Please advise. Open for suggestions --165.121.32.115

I think there is more to this story, but you are sparing us some of the gory, nasty details of your chewing tenant. Can we assume that it is the loose-leaf stuff, rather than the multi-flavored, good-tasting snuff?

Gosh...what are we going to ban next....bubble gum, Koolaid, and popsicles from the kids? --68.53.193.212

why? What damage are you expecting? I allow smoking;however, I can see where it does cause more damage related to paint and burns. However, most poor people smoke --130.76.96.17

Yes...I ban couples and kids in my little units, but I didn't say anything about kids...just what they like.

I think your concern is reasonable, especially considering that there seem to be quite a few people who pick up chewing as an alternative to smoking cigarettes.

I suppose you could say something like, "No tobacco products allowed." Of course then you might have to have another clause to cover marijuana or crack or whatever. --164.107.43.20

I flew all the way from Chicago and back with a chew in my jaw, and no one complained about any smoke or yellow teeth. Heck...I didn't even set the alarm off in the latrine. I heard that that is a federal offense. --68.53.193.212

I have to agree with my plow jocky friend Radar on this one.. WHY? Is this some "morals" thing you are attempting to push on your tenants? Cigarette smoke I understand, but I fail to see how chewing tobacco is hurting your property.

Why? Cause alot of people "spit" everywhere and anywhere when they have a cheek full of chew.

Just like the people who throw cigs out the window or smash them on the ground by the door, etc.

I don't see many people locally that chew, but when I lived in okla. that was very popular.

By the way I need a copy of that 250 page lease. LOL --66.81.199.44
