I have a 4 family, i live in one unit. The house is located on the perimeter of an active quarry. As a result of the colder temps and the ongoing blasting, the field mice find their way into the building. i have goin around the perimeter, both inside and outside of the house. I clogged up some spaces with steel wool. I have an electronic deterrent in the basement. I have also set traps and used D-con

But, as mice go, they still find their way in! By no means are they running rampant throughout the building! However, I occasionally hear the scampering.

How do I go about a) finding the entry points and sealing them, and b) getting rid of any critters still in the building? --64.12.96.70

You might think about acquiring a cat. Find a "mouser." --64.136.27.227

A mouse in the house is not the end of the world.

Occasinally over the past 40+ years, We find evidence of mice. (Usually in winter) We set 3 or 4 traps, and continue setting them until the traps are empty. That's usually the end of mice for that season.

In the meantime, store food in mouse-proof containers and don't leave garbage around. --152.163.252.193

June has the idea. Traps get rid of mice quickly.

Our cats are too lazy to catch mice. They know they get fed anyway, like welfare recipients. Not like the cats we kept in the barn when I was a kid. --216.239.160.71

I get a lot of people recommending a cat, but a) i am allergic, b) i don't really like cats, and c) i don't think my dog would take too kindly to a feline!

Just to take note of something above, it does seem like they are "winter resident" only. Heh, so long as they don't leave behind a brood, I guess I am ahead of the game. And it least it isn't cockroaches!!! --205.188.209.16

Mice are clever, they have more time than you do to find any possible entry points. If you have a drain in the basement, they will even come up thru that!! No matter what you do, they will get in. Don't count on those electronic gadgets to keep them out of the house, they grow accustomed to them no matter what they claim.

Only thing you can do is put out mouse traps and decon Best advice, get barn cats, they love to play with mice :) --67.29.223.222

Get rat poison and put it up and away from where any children would come across it... Problem solved --12.221.243.82

Here is an article on rodent control. The site isn't pretty, but the content is excellent.
