Hi, Cindy. I saw the post where you mentioned that it's easy to file for state/federal income tax garnishment. How does one do that? Thanks. --164.107.187.19

Well; in Mich. after I received Judgement (landlord-tenant) I first filed for "request and writ for garnishment (periodic)" This was sent to employer by certified mail. Of course she quit her job after that took effect! :> I then filed "request and writ for garnishment (income tax refund/credit)" My receipt is for $15.00 on a total due to me of over $800.00! you are able to add cost of filing and include intrest etc. Then you wait for them to file. If they owe you more then amount you get back from thier refund; you file new request and writ form in November of the next yr. for their NEXT years refund.I got the forms at my local court house; they charged me $00.45 for the form! This is the best I've ever done getting past due money owed! and in one lump sum! Her employer garnishment was sometimes less then $5.00 per week! With me having to refile for it every 12 weeks! Hope it's that easy in Ohio; Good Luck! --198.111.220.142

Cindy, very good advice. See how we learn from each other here. I haven't done this yet. Usually turn it over to a Collection Agency. But I will print this out and give it a try. Thanks Kiddo! --209.244.91.113

Cindy, great idea.

Do you know what form # this is ?

With all the forms gov agencies have, it might be easier to get one with the number. --12.250.133.131

BenJ (Il) Like I said; this is a MICHIGAN form; There is not a # on it; just says "request and writ for garnishment (income tax refund/credit) @ the top of it! I just asked @ the court house for it! Of course the employees are not allowed to give advice; I just act "Niave" and said that one; you know; for their income tax. This is the one they gave me. It worked! The court house even mailed it to the state for me. --198.111.209.107
